Where Is My Lucky?
One day in July, 2007 When I started the artist residency in Anyang, I was sitting in Seoksu Market with a friend of mine as usual, trying not to burst out the occasional laughs and not particularly doing anything else. I was not expecting anything new would happen. Because the place was all about selling, buying, making noises and nothing else.
Here and there in the market, I saw deadish spaces. There were a few empty stores in Seoksu Market which were abandoned by the previous owners and never occupied afterwards. I was sitting at one of those places. And there was another empty space where a dog called "Lucky".
One day in August, 2007 when I started the artist residency in Anyang, I was sitting in Seoksu Market with a friend of mine as usual, thinking how we could find pleasure. I was not expectiong anything new. Because the place was all about selling, buying, drinking and nothing else. So I kept wondering what I should do to make myself pleasant until dark. I wanted to be refreshed so i decided to enjoy the night in the market.
내 럭키는 어디 있나요?
안양에서 작가레지던시를 시작한 2007년 7월 어느 날, 나는 여느 때와 같이 석수시장에서 친구와 가끔 터지는 웃음보를 참아가며 아무것도 하지 않고 앉아 있다. 무엇인가 새로운 것이 벌어질 것이라는 기대는 하지 않는다. 당영한게 사고 팔고 떠드는 것이 전부인 곳이기 때문이다.
시장 구석구석에는 죽은 듯이 보이는 공간이 있다. 석수시장에는 몇 개의 빈 점포들이 있는데 입주해 있던 가게 주인들이 떠나고 그 장소들은 다시 채워지지 않고 비어 있는 것이다. 그 중 한 곳에 내가 앉아 있다. 그리고 또 하나 빈 곳이 있는데 그것은 럭키라는 개가 살던 집이다.
어느날 나는 럭키를 찾아 나서기로 마음 먹는다.
안양에서 작가레지던시를 시작한 2007년 8월 어느 날, 나는 여느 때와 같이 석수시장에서 친구와 어떻게 하면 즐거워질 수 있을까를 생각하며 앉아 있다. 무엇인가 새로운 것이 벌어질 것이라는 기대는 하지 않는다. 다영하게 사고 팔고 술 마시는 것이 전부인 곳이기 때문이다.
그래서 밤이 될 때까지 어떻게 해야 즐거워질 수 있는가를 고민했다. 나는 시원해지고 싶어서 시장에서 밤을 즐기기로 한다.
