2. 배경 및 목적
▪ 보충대리공간 스톤앤워터가 2002년부터 생활 속의 예술을 표방하며 공공성, 지역성, 생태성에 입각하여 다양한 예술적 활동을 펼쳐왔던 거점이자 스톤앤워터가 자리한 석수시장이 안양시에서 추진하고 있는 만안구 뉴타운 사업 지구에 포함되면서 석수시장을 비롯한 만안구 지역의 미래가 거대한 변화와 개발의 불투명한 미래에 직면해 있다. 만안 뉴타운 사업이 초래할 변화와 개발에 대한 기대와 불안감은 그것에 대한 찬성과 반대의 편파적인 의견 개진에 앞서서 현 시점에서 이 지역의 도시적 생태와 구체적인 삶의 환경에 대한 다시 보기와 비판적인 사유를 요구한다.
▪ SAP2010은 만안구 뉴타운 사업을 통해 제기된 문제의식에서 출발하여 국내외 예술가와 지역 공동체와 함께 도시 생태와 재생의 맥락에서 이 지역을 새롭게 발견하고 연구하여 그 내용을 행동하고 실현하고자 한다. 이를 통해 국내외 예술가와 지역 공동체가 접촉하고 소통할 수 있는 글로컬한 플랫폼을 형성하고, 모든 참여자들과 함께 만안구 뉴타운 개발 지역의 도시적 생태와 구체적인 삶의 환경을 재조명하고 새롭게 성찰하는 계기를 마련하고자 한다.
3. 컨셉
▪ New Old Man An Design
‘New Old Man An Design’은 도시생태와 재생의 맥락에서 뉴타운 개발 지구인 만안구 일대를 과거와 현재 그리고 미래의 시점에서 국내외 예술가, 지역 주민과 단체, 학생 및 자원봉사자들이 함께 탐사하고, 새롭게 발견하고, 연구하는 그리고 그 일련의 과정을 기록하고 서로 연결하며 그 내용을 행동하고 적용해보고자 하는 SAP2010의 중심 개념이다.
▪ 만안 – ‘만안萬安 하세요?! Manan Haseyo?!’
만안구의 지명을 이루는 단어 ‘만안 萬安’은 ‘매우 평안함’을 뜻하며 웃어른에게 안부를 물을 때 ‘귀체 만안하십니까?’라는 표현이 사용된다. SAP2010은 이 표현에서 발전된 안부 인사의 문구 ‘만안萬安 하세요 ManAn Haseyo?!’가 환기시키는 질문들 즉, 우리는 우리가 처한 삶의 환경을 어떻게 바라보는지, 그리고 이 환경 속에서 우리가 진정으로 만안萬安한지에 대한 근본적인 질문을 출발점으로 삼아 지역의 도시적 생태와 삶의 환경을 새롭게 조명하고 이에 대한 새로운 성찰의 기회를 마련하고자 한다.
▪ Design
‘디자인 Design’의 개념은 도시적 환경과 공간에 대한 시각적이고 물질적인 접근뿐 만 아니라 ‘소셜 디자인 Social Design’의 관점에서 삶과 삶의 환경을 디자인하고, 인간과 인간 간의 관계와 소통을 디자인한다는 의미를 포함한다.
▪ Network
SAP2010은 각 프로그램들의 진행과 실현 과정에서 국내외 예술가와 지역 공동체 및 모든 참여주체 간의 소통과 상호작용 그리고 지역 주민과 공동체의 적극적인 참여에 포커스를 두고, 이를 통해 예술을 매개로 도시 생태와 환경의 디자인 과정에 시민 개개인이 주체적으로 참여하고 행위 할 수 있는 장이 형성되기를 희망한다.
▪ NOMAD 노마드 (유목 遊牧)
‘New Old Man An Design’의 이니셜을 합하여 만든 약자 ‘NOMAD 노마드 (유목 遊牧)’는 단순히 물리적인 공간이나 거리를 이동하는 것이 아니라 삶이 시, 공간적 관계와 맥락에서 한 순간이나 한 장소에 고여 있지 않고 ‘유영游泳’한다는 관점에서 삶의 형태의 다양성과 유동성을 긍정하는 태도를 의미한다. SAP2010은 도시 생태와 삶의 환경을 새롭게 바라보고 지역과 세계가 소통하여 이를 통해 제안되거나 실현된 모든 예술적 실험들이 그 다양성과 유동성을 도모하는데 기여할 수 있기를 바란다.

2. Background & Purpose ▪ Since Seoksu Market, where Supplement Space STONE&WATER is located, was included to the ManAn New Town Project Area which is leading by Anyang city, a great part of district of ManAn-gu including Seoksu Market is now confronted with unreliable future of huge change and re-development. Therefore, feel of expectation and insecurity about ManAn New Town Project requires preferentially and essentially to review the concrete circumstance of life and critical reflection on urban ecology in this area rather than to consider first this problem within the bigoted and superficial opinion such as approval or disapproval.
▪ Departing from the problematic issues aroused through the ManAn New Town Project, SAP2010 aims to re-discover and study this region in terms of the urban ecology and revival, and put such content into practice with the help of domestic and international artists, local citizens, organizations, students, and volunteers. The objective is to form a ‘glocal’ platform on which the domestic and international artists can communicate with the local communities and provide opportunities to reflect and re-contemplate on the urban ecology and look into the details of life in the New Town Project Area in ManAn-gu.
3. Concept
▪ New Old Man An Design
‘New Old Man An Design’ is the core idea of SAP2010 which tries to explore, re-discover and research the new town area of ManAn-gu from the viewpoint of past, present and future in the context of urban ecology and revival, and to document a series of this processes, link them each other and finally, to act and apply its contents with artists from all over the world, local citizens, organizations, students and volunteers.
▪ ManAn – ‘ManAn Haseyo?!’
‘ManAn’, the name of the place means ‘very peaceful, safe’ and ‘Giche ManAn hasipnika? (How are you getting along these days?)’ is the very polite way of saying when we ask after the safety and health of seniors. ‘ManAn Haseyo?!’ is the newly created expression from the expression above and this expression evokes several intrinsic questions like ‘What do we think about the circumstances of life?’ and ‘Are we really ManAn (peaceful and safe) in this circumstances?’ and so on. SAP2010 would like to start with these questions and provide an opportunity to review and reflect urban ecology and circumstances of life in the New Town Project Area of ManAn-gu.
▪ Design
The concept of ‘Design’ means not only visual and material approach about urban environment and space, but also in terms of ‘social design’, includes the significations to design life and circumstance of life and design relationship and communication among people.
▪ Network
SAP2010 sets its focus on communication and interaction among domestic/overseas artists, local communities and all other participants, and active participation of local citizens and communities. So to speak, we expect to establish a forum where citizens are able to participate and act actively in the progresses of urban ecology and environmental design through art.
▪ NOMAD
NOMAD is the acronym for ‘New Old Man An Design’, which means not only movement to the physical space or distance but also an affirmative attitude to diverse and flexibility of life from the viewpoint of the following: life is continuously in a state of ‘swimming’ rather than being stagnant in the context of time and space. SAP2010 aims to contribute promoting diversity and flexibility of life through artistic experiments which have been proposed and realized by means of new viewpoint for circumstances of life and communication between the local and global.
