Step on poetry Stairs
We usually use the stairs without much awareness. Stairs are an architectural element that connect spaces and have a natural place in our daily experience. I will research the historical stories of ManAn Bridge which is located in Sammack stream, a tributary of Anyang River. The stories will be handwritten on wood panels and installed on the stairs that are on the banks of Anyang River. King Jeong-Jo of Choseon Dynasty constructed ManAn Bridge to be able to visit the grave of his father, Prince Sado. This is a tale of devotion to parents and ancestors. I will reinterpret this bridge as a means for connecting family members and use the stairway as a mediator which links up the banks of the river in order to make the story of King Jeong-jo more accessible. Additionally, this work will
aesthetically add to the stairway on the Anyang riverside, and through combination with
usual architectural elements, it will get closer to people.
詩를 밟는 계단
항상 생각 없이 오르내리는 계단. 계단은 층계를 연결해 주는 건축적 요소로 우리의 일상생활에 자연스럽게 자리하고 있다. 나는 안양의 젖줄인 안양천의 지류 삼막천에 자리한 만안교에 대한 역사적인 이야기를 연구하고, 그 내용을 손 글씨로 합판에 써서 안양천 변에 위치한 계단에 설치할 것이다. 알게 모르게 지나쳐 왔던 만안교는 조선시대 정조 대왕이 아버지인 사도 세자의 묘를 보다 편히 자주 찾으러 가기 위해 건축했다고 하는 효심이 가득한 이야기를 담고 있다. 돌아가신 아버지와 아들을 연결해 주는 다리를 현대적으로 재해석 하고, 윗공간과 아래 공간을 연결하는 계단이라는 매개체를 이용하여, 정조대왕의 이야기를 보다 쉽게 접할 수 있게하고자 한다. 또한 이 작업은 정결하지 않은 안양천 변의 계단에 심미적인 효과를 더할 것이며, 일상적인 건축적 요소와 결합됨으로써 대중에게 친숙하게 다가서게 될 것이다.
